Manarola, Riomaggiore by bike, and holding up the Leaning Tower
Previous post: Milan · Next post: Tuscany
After a morning on the bikes in Milan, we headed south for the sea.
19 March: down to the coast
From Milan it was close to three hours south to the Ligurian coast, with a short stop on the way. Just before six we were parked up in the hills of the Cinque Terre, where we stayed two nights.

20 March: Manarola and Riomaggiore
By nine in the morning we were at the viewpoint above Manarola, looking down on the colourful houses stacked over the harbour.

We also had the bikes out on the roads between the villages, through the vineyard terraces and down to Riomaggiore.

And the little three-wheeled Ape trucks, parked on the roads between the villages.
21 March: down the coast to Pisa
We left the hills a little after nine, made one short stop on the way down the coast, and were in Pisa before noon. We stayed two nights.
22 March: the Leaning Tower
After a few short stops outside town in the morning, we got on the bikes just before one and rode over to the Piazza dei Miracoli, where we spent about an hour and a half.

Of course we did the pose.

We rode back mid-afternoon, and went out on the bikes again for a short spin in the early evening.
23 March: on into Tuscany
We left Pisa late in the morning and headed inland toward Siena. Tuscany is the next post.
